Employer relocation checklist
For HR and mobility teams — not individual applicants. A free, generic workflow list when you sponsor or relocate an employee internationally: compliance, what to tell the employee, and first-month onboarding.
Read the checklist on this page, or download a text file to paste into Notion, Confluence, Google Docs, or email. MigrantIQ does not store your company name or run immigration cases — pair this with our corridor guides and visa hubs for each destination.
Save for your team
Optional: add your company name, then download a plain-text checklist. The .md file opens in any editor and pastes cleanly into HR wikis, Slack, or onboarding docs — no MigrantIQ account required.
Planning reference only — not legal advice. Confirm immigration rules with licensed counsel for each country.
Pre-offer & compliance
- Confirm work authorization route (visa category, LMIA/equivalent, sponsorship).
- Document salary, role, start date, and reporting location in writing.
- Assign internal owner for immigration counsel and payroll setup.
Employee support (30–90 days before move)
- Share official government links — not third-party “guaranteed visa” agents.
- Provide relocation budget estimate (housing deposit, flights, temporary accommodation).
- Offer document checklist aligned with destination visa requirements.
- Clarify health insurance gap between departure and local coverage start.
Arrival & onboarding
- Tax ID / social insurance registration timeline.
- Bank account and payroll deposit setup.
- Emergency contacts and scam-awareness briefing (rental fraud, fake agents).
Ongoing
- Track permit/visa expiry and renewal windows.
- Annual review of corridor policy changes affecting sponsored staff.
