Country profile topics

How to use in-depth country topic pages: demographics, economy, government, travel safety, and more.

Who it is for: Anyone comparing destinations or preparing background research before choosing a visa pathway.

Benefits

  • Eight topic areas per country (when data exists) — easier than reading one giant page.
  • Sections with jump links on long topics (e.g. health, labor market).
  • Works alongside migration tools on the same country hub (visas, city costs, scams).

Step by step

  1. 1. Start from the country hub

Open any country from the Countries index. Scroll to the Country profile card — you will see horizontal topic tabs and a short overview snippet.

    Example: Canada hub
  2. 2. Choose a topic

Topics include Demographics & population, Economy, Government & politics, Geography & environment, Trade, Travel & safety, Infrastructure, and National symbols. Tabs only appear when that country has data for the topic.

  3. 4. Read Travel & safety before you book flights

This topic covers safety, crime, medical facilities, and traffic — then follow links to scam alerts and laws for the same country.

    Example: Travel & safety
  4. 5. Collapsible sections on Economy and Infrastructure

Labor-by-occupation and pipeline/energy details are grouped in collapsible blocks so the page stays scannable.

    Example: Economy
  5. 6. Return to visas and costs

Topic pages are reference material. For pathways, fees, and settlement funds, use the visa hub, city cost table, and Who qualifies sections on the country hub.

    Canada visas
  6. 7. Confirm on official sources

Profile facts support planning; they do not replace embassy portals or immigration authorities for applications, fees, or eligibility.
